Jewel's Pets

You find yourself in a quiet forest outside the Sanori gardens, surrounded by huge and ancient trees. They seem to reach for the amber sky so high above, hoping maybe to touch the golden sun as it pours it's warmth across the land. Only tiny streams of light are able to seep through the thick canopy to reach the forest floor, where you stand. It almost seems unnatural to have a forest quite this silent. You can feel something in the air, in the breeze running through your hair and teasing your clothes, that calls out to you. A mystery of some kind, like the still before a storm. Out of the corner of your eye, you see a figure walking slowly through the old forest toawrd you. Uncertain, you twist around quickly, catching a glimps of the tall, slender man. He grins at you, stopping forward.

"And you are..?" the young man says, pausing to let you answer. You tell him your name, and that you are a traveler, exploring the gardens. "A traveler, eh? It's not uncommon to find such travelers in the garden, but not many know about these woods. An ancient place, it is, where time is slightly bent." he says mischeviously. "Well, maybe not so mystical as so. It only seems like time is bent. It does, does it not?" he asks, letting you look around the forest more. Blue green mosses grow here and there along the bottom of the old, towering trees. Colored leaves lay amoung the ground, fallen from countless years, and clountless trees. Further past your imediate vision, a larger stream of sunlight trickles down past the open canopy, blanketing a large patch of ground in it's warmth. Inside the light, you notice a fresh looking pile of soft, sweet smelling hay. Inside the mound of hay, you see an odd looking purplish tail. It wags a while as you look at it, then suddenly, the owner of the long tail pops out of the hay, grinning a draconic smile. "That is Lomie." the man says, noticing you watching the beautiful fellow, "He is a wonderful dragon. But he is still tired from a long night. Let him be for now, traveler."

Letting go of the sunlit area, you let your eyes wash across the deep, green ocean of leaves and bark. Finally, your gaze is directed at the young man. Tall and somewhat lanky, his sly and mysterious look is clouded by a gentle air about him. Long reddish strainds fall across his brown eyes. Your eyes meet his, and he smiles again. "It was missing something, it was. The forest is wonderful, but it was definetly missing soemthing very important!" he says, enthusiastically. Letting himself relax against a near by tree, he says, rather softly, "There was no magic in this place. No singing unicorns. No flaming phoenixes. And no dragons. This place yerned to breathe magic once more, and I hoped to help it with that. You see, I received a dragon egg not long ago; that was Lomie's egg. I wasn't sure if I'd be be accepted, but I did know one thing," he says, turning toward you, "The dragon will be loved, very much here. No matter what color or ranking, it will be loved very much. Lomie is a very special Twilight dragon, but I love him no matter his colors."

A tiny blue butterfly flutters carelessly along, it's fragile wings reminding you of a deep, dark night sky, speckled with thousands of shimmering stars. It flys past you, landing on a tree not far away. Following your gaze, the young man moves slowly over to the tiny butterfly. His smooth, almost elgant movements make you wonder if he isn't human. "Come, my pretty little fellow." he says, coaxing the butterfly to crawl onto his finger. You look on, amazed to see such a thing. "It's a twinkle butterfly. They are very rare, but very friendly. Especially to dragons." he continues, grinning broadly. "Not long ago, I found my way to a small glen, where beautiful dragons lived. It seemed they were having their first clutch of dragons, and needed good homes for them to live in. Looking upon the nest of warm, smooth eggs, I couldn't help but feel compelled to help at least one of them."

Reaching toward you and grabbing your hand, the man lets the tiny butterfly walk into your skin. It's tiny legs tickle your hand, and you squirm, setting the butterfly to futter away. Smiling, he continues more loudly, "They are legenday dragons. The mighty and beautiful Xian dragons, as legendary as the Sanori dragon mages. The place called to me, echoing in my ears, in my eyes, and in my heart. I knew I had to make a home for one of these dragons to live peacefully in. As I traveled, I came across another mysterious place. The Sanori Gardens. Here, I met with Jewel and told her about the wonderufl Xian dragons. She agreed that finding a home for the beautiful creatures was important, so she showed me to this forest. They call it the Silent Forest. No dragon has lived here in thousands of years. It was forgotten long, long ago. Here is where the dragon egg will rest, until it hatches."

Watching as tiny beams od light flicker and dance against the colorful trees, you listen to the man, wondering when, someday, you'll come back here to find a big, strong dragon sleeping among the tree bottoms. As if hearing your thoughs, he turns and says to you, "The egg will hatch someday. It will be a beautiful dragon, too, no matter it's color." And, smiling slyly, he adds, "My name is Furtian, son of Veros the female knight, and Hutanchi the dragon."
