Flion Aviary

You continue along the beaten forest path, speckled with spots of sunlight shining through the thick leafy canopy. The earth smells musky and sweet like fresh rain and pine trees, and you wish you could bottle the smell and take it with you everywhere you went to remind you of this place.

The path is covered with old and weathered roots, stretching across the dusty road as if in search for precious water. You have to keep your eyes down to make sure you don't trip and stumble, and this makes you a bit nervous. The forest is getting darker, you notice, and you're not sure what creatures lurk beyond your vision, ready to pounce upon you.

Your eyes dart back and forth between the dark forest ahead and the root strewn path before you. Something in the distance catches your eye and you hold it, trying to figure out what it could be. It shimmers blue between the green, and as it flashes bright white, your foot hooks on a tall looped root sticking out of the ground and you stumble forward, landing flat on your face. You quickly pick yourself up off of the ground and look back to the place you thought you saw something, but it has already moved on. A little disturbed, you begin to dust yourself off and ready yourself to move on.

Patting yourself down, you realize that you have cut up the palms of your hands pretty badly and dirt has made its way under your skin, mixing with the streams of blood seeping out and down your arms. You sigh, knowing that if you don't clean this out soon, it will get infected and fester, and out here in the woods, it's hard to tell what will take advantage of that situation. You search through your things for your water, but quickly realize that it's all gone, and you curse under your breath. What will you do now?

As you go searching through your things for a cloth to clean yourself up with, the forest behind you suddenly becomes very quiet, and you wonder what could possibly cause this. Turning to see what is going on, you drop all of your things and stare up in awe at the creature hovering among the trees.

"Hello," the creature says to you, her voice coming through calm and clean across the dense ocean of leaves and twigs. She drops to the ground and tucks her wings against her sides, moving in close to you. Still in a bit of shock, you simply stand and watch her, unsure exactly what she'll do. As she nears, she takes your bloodied hands in hers and blows on them gently, taking a small bottle of water tied to her side and pouring it over your skin. You watch, curious to the fact that your hands no longer hurt and aware that they are no longer bleeding, either. She gazes down at you as she lets your hands go.

She turns to sink back into the forest, and you run after her. "Wait!" you should, trying to catch up with the large and mysterious flion. "What's your name!?"

Blue fades to green and she's gone. Whispered on the wind, you can hear her soft voice echoing through the trees, "My name is Littlesapphire."
